Overview

Muniscan.io automates the tedious process of checking landscape and site designs against municipal zoning regulations. Designers upload DXF files, and the system parses geometry, identifies structures and setback lines, and validates everything against configurable rule sets.

The backend uses computational geometry (Shapely) and DXF parsing (ezdxf) to perform precise spatial analysis. Results are rendered as interactive GeoJSON maps and SVG overlays that clearly highlight violations with specific code references. The MVP ships with Nashville, TN rulesets and is designed to scale to any municipality.
